Haiti Medical Mission Trips: PTMBA has been represented on two of the three teams from SC Baptist Disaster Relief so far and will also be on Team 4 which leaves Feb. 28. Rebuild will be the next phase of help. One of the first steps is to take the training which will be in Anderson on March 5 and 6th. If you are a medical person, construction person, or chaplain, please call the PTMBA office at 864 878 2456 and we can help you impact Haiti for Christ.
Thank you for praying for Jane and me as we lead the third trip to Haiti. Seven of the nine team members were from Pickens County. There were 20 new followers of Christ, 75 counseled for Crisis Intervention, and 561 patients helped. My most unforgettable was Superman. He was a little 3 year old who the size of a 1 year old was. He was burning up with a fever and lethargic. His eyes were almost set. Jane told me he was going to die. Then the nurse started with the shots and he screamed and locked eyes with me. He seemed to be saying “Can you please help me!” I put some cool wet towels on his head to cool off the 106 fever and prayed for him. His eyes never left me. The medicine and cool towels kicked in and the fever came to 100. Superman looked over his shoulder as he left with his Mother and waved back at me. He walked in the clinic for a follow up visit the next morning. Praise the Lord!
You were part of this as you sent money for medicine and teams with the love of Jesus. Remember to pray for Annie Armstrong Offering this month which supports NAMB and Disaster Relief.
Blessings, Ron and Jane Duncan, Your Associational Missionaries

Buckets of Hope for Haiti
NAMB: The “Buckets of Hope” ministry is just one means by which Baptists can fulfill the mandate of Jesus Christ to feed the hungry in the name of Jesus. As we are reminded in Matthew 25:40, Jesus tells us, “And the King shall answer and say unto them, ‘Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me’” (KJV)
A “Bucket of Hope” consists of a plastic five-gallon bucket packed with selected foodstuffs. (To obtain a list of items go to www.scbaptist.net or contact PTMBA) For approximately $30 anyone can purchase the materials and assemble a “Bucket of Hope.” The food contained in a single bucket will feed a Haitian family for a week. You are also requested to include a $10 contribution, per bucket to offset the cost of transporting the relief buckets to Haiti.
PTMBA will collect buckets through March 8th.

From Your Associational Missionary
Jane and I have enjoyed being in 20 of the 31 churches for a Sunday service and look forward to being in the rest as soon as possible. When we have been to all 31, we will then start back through.I see the Great Commission at work as you minister to those around you locally, nationally, and internationally. It is really encouraging to see the love of Jesus in your church.
Many of the Pastor’s wives came to a meeting that Jane had with them this month. For details on a study that was written by Minister’s wives for Minister’s wives, call 878-2456.
We are also having our first Pastor’s luncheon on October 1.This will be a time of fellowship and praying for each other.
We are currently in the process of working on updating our website and would appreciate a picture of your church. This can be a hard copy that we can scan and return or a soft copy (jpeg) that we can publish directly. We will also have a section for events that are happening in your church as well as missions that you are doing.I am looking for stories and pictures that will help people who are looking for a church home find you. There will be a map to your church and contact information to help people find you.
We are finishing up the State Missions emphasis and headed toward the International Missions emphasis,Lottie Moon Christmas offering time. These are vital parts of what we as Southern Baptist do to work on the Great Commission. Please let me know how I can help you.
We have just ordered software that will enable us to download maps showing all the homes in your community and who lives in them. Our goal is to pray for those in our community by name in October and November. You do not have prayer walk - you can prayer drive, prayer bicycle, or prayer run.Give me a call to get the information that will be tailored for you.
Please remember to com to the associational meeting at NineForksBaptistChurch on October 22.If you would like to have a table at the Missions Opportunities Fair on that night, please let us know.We would love to hear and see how your neighbors can join with you to do the Great Commission.

From Your Associational Missionary
October was a great month for PTMBA, and November is even going to be better.
A special “Thank You” goes to Nine Forks for hosting the PTMBA Associational Meeting.I enjoyed the music, the speakers, the Missions Fair, and the warm atmosphere of God’s people worshipping together. It was really neat to see people standing around in the yard just catching up with friends after the meeting.Associating is a good thing - we need the practice since we will spend eternity together.I am hoping we can have a spring meeting at PickensHigh School just to eat, fellowship, play, pick and grin.No business will be allowed, just the pleasure of being together.
Our first Pastors luncheon for this year was very well attended, and it was a pleasure to see younger and older pastors sharing ideas and prayer requests.PTMBA is blessed with good pastors. Our next meeting will include all staff and administrative assistants. We will have Bob Deaton representing SCBC to answer tax and retirement questions. This will be Nov. 5 at 11:30 at Country Table located at 712 W. Main St., Pickens. Please email or phone Connie at the PTMBA office by Nov. 2 so we can give them an accurate head count for the buffet.
The Pastors wives are doing a Bible study about Pastors Wives which was written by Pastors Wives. The next meeting is Nov. 12 at 6:30.The fellowship, food, and sharing has been awesome.Come by PTMBA office for the book.Bring a salad and dessert to share.
We are working on prices on the insurance, equipment and procedure for use of a Block Party Trailer. We’re looking for a trailer, equipment (popcorn, snow cones, etc), and inflatables which will be checked out through PTMBA.We will have a small restocking charge for the supplies and replacement of equipment. This can be used for special events to reach your community.Associating is a good thing.
The windows on the back of the top floor of the PTMBA office have been replaced and they look great. We will be hopefully renovating the walls and floors so that we will have a nice place for meetings. We also have a new LCD projector which can be checked out or used here for presentations, VBS, or special events for your church.
The Adoption Fair will be Nov. 14 from 8:30am to 11:30am at East Pickens located at 2244 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens just across from the YMCA.There will be several special guests including representatives from Project Hope, Bethany Christian Services, SC Dept. of Social Services, and James Fletcher Thompson (adoption attorney).“Finding Forever Families” is the topic. This is a great way to share and show the love of God.Call PTMBA for more details.
The new website is http://www.scbaptist.net/pickenstwelvemile/which is still under construction and if you would like to help, please call Ron at 864 878 2456.I would appreciate the help. Thank you for all you do in reaching your community with the Good News.
Blessings, Ron, Jane, and Connie

From Your Associational Missionary
What I Learned about Associational Missions and Church Work While Tending a Fire:
I had a lot of tree limbs that needed to be burned. This was after I had interviewed for Associational Missionary but before starting in August. I checked with a neighbor who told me the procedure so that I would not break the law.
First, you have to call 800-374-2876 (Forestry Fire Management- the person in charge) to let them know that you will be responsible for the fire, and they let you know that you better do a good job or you have to answer for it. In my job and yours, that would be our Heavenly Father. We really have a big responsibility per Matt. 28: 19-20 and we really do want to do a good job with so much at stake. To keep the fire hot, you have to circle it and touch all the logs- no matter the size of the log, they all need to be touched and they are all important for keeping the flame hot. This is definitely true for churches and members as well.
Just keeping an eye on the logs lets you know if there is a problem, so you have to keep circling and touching.
If the logs get too far from the action, they just smolder. This means lots of smoke and not too much heat.
No matter what the problem is, everybody needs that log. It must be time for a touch. (Sometimes the logs are going
to have to let us know there is a problem. We can’t always just know, but we always want to help-please pick up the phone. Logs can’t do that.)
You know, there was a real storm came through that day, lots of rain, wind was rough, but the flame came right back up when the storm was over, probably even blew some of the ash off of the coals so it was even hotter. Never forget that only God is in charge of the weather, and storms are a natural part of life. There has to be a reason, just hold on to the Father’s hand a little tighter.
The fire was constantly changing, if you just leave it alone, it goes out and you just have a bunch of coals and then just ash. We need to associate and keep our fire hot in the upstate of SC. With Father’s help we can change our area, our country, and our world.
We all know that it is Lottie Moon Christmas Offering time. As you give this year, remember that because of the shortfall last year, our missionaries have taken a 50% cut in operating budgets and also pay and benefits cuts. Please give so that our missionaries can continue to work in their mission fields. Lottie spent her life trying to reach her mission field. We should be doing the same. Doing the Great Commission is what she was all about. We need to have the same desire to share with those around us. GO, TEACH, AND BAPTIZE is our command.
Blessings on you and have a great Christmas,
Ron and Jane Duncan, Your Associational Missionaries
Congratulations are extended to Dr. Fred Stone for being elected President of the South Carolina Baptist Convention.

The ladies Christmas Party at Secona on November 30th was GREAT! The fellowhip, food, and atmosphere were warm and enjoyed by all.
Two young girls from Keowee called attention to the missionaries having birthdays that day.
Young people from Griffin and Shady Grove Baptist Churches presented skits regarding the life of Lottie Moon. Jane Duncan talked about Lottie Moon and local missions. One hundred thirteen attended from eighteen churches across PTMBA. Associating is such a good thing.
Upcoming events being planned for the ladies include a Tea Party in the spring and a cook out in the summer. You can’t have an association if you don’t associate.
PTMBA SonShine Station should be ready for use by the end of January. This trailer will be a great tool to help you reach your community. We have a popcorn machine, Sno-Cone machine, coolers, tables, canopies, and a Monster Truck Inflatable Bounce House. Training on the equipment will be held in January so this can be used safely. A great big “thank you” is extended to the couple who made the generous donation to equip the station.

Dear Folks,
I just wanted to tell you a sincere thank you. I’m sorry to meet under the “flood” but God does have a way of seeing about us. God bless you and it was a pleasure meeting all of you folks. Your help was so much appreciated. I will continue to count my blessings and please remember us in your prayers.
For unto you is born this day
